Automatic updates
Let managed items update themselves on a schedule, with the same safety net as a manual update.
Pick which items update on their own from the Updates tab. These settings control how it runs.
🕐 Schedule› Understand the levels and risk
✉ Email notificationsOne email is sent per run (not per item). Automatic updates always keep the safety net — a backup before each update, a health check after, and an automatic rollback if the site breaks — and they respect your daily downloads: if you run out, the rest wait for the next run.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| How often / Run updates at | Daily or weekly, at your site's own local time. |
| Maximum update level | Patch (safest), Minor, or Major (all updates). |
| Skip beta / pre-release | Skips beta/rc/alpha/dev versions even if technically newer. |
| Max updates per run | Caps items updated per run; the rest wait for next time. |
| Send to | Optional — defaults to the site's admin email. |
| On successful / On failed | One summary email per run, for success and/or failure. |
Rollback & recovery
Every update is backed up first, so you can always go back.
Updated — please check this item
This version of “Global Gallery” (11.1.1) seems to have lost its pre-activation and may or may not be fully functional. Test it and, if needed, roll back — or roll back now. View instructions
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Update rolled back | Restored automatically after a fatal error. | Nothing; the working version is back. |
| Needs activation | Installed but not active. | Test it; roll back if needed. |
Roll back manually
- Click the round restore icon ↺ on the item row.
- Pick the version to restore.
- Confirm; files are restored and the item reactivated.
Fine-tune the post-update safety net beyond the current automatic backup + health check + rollback.
This card is not built yet — planned ideas include per-item rollback exclusions and a separate rollback-event email.
Whitelabel
Why you won't find a whitelabel/rebranding option here.
Full whitelabel is a separate product for developers/agencies managing other people's sites — not part of this plugin.
Updating from WordPress
Managed items are safe wherever you update them — but the Auto Updater screen is best.
For a managed item, the plugin adds a note to its WordPress update row.
Diagnostics & logs
A local record of update activity — and optional error reporting to your provider.
A local record of update activity on this site, to help troubleshoot. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you enable error reporting below.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Send error reports | Optional; sends a small failure report to your provider. |
| Keep detailed logs | Also records routine events. |
| Copy / Download log | Export the local log to send for support. |
| Clear log | Empties the local log. |
Settings & backups
This tab groups Automatic updates, Backups, and (soon) Rollback & recovery.
Before each update, a copy of the item is saved so you can roll back.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| On disk | Space used by local backups. |
| Versions to keep | How many versions to keep per item (1–5). |
| Clear backups | Deletes all local backups. |
A dedicated card for fine-tuning the rollback safety net is planned — see Rollback & recovery.
